3-4 Class

(Miss Sahyoune)

Grade 3 and 4 students have begun Term 2 with great enthusiasm and energy. The introduction of new programs, including Paddock to Plate/Kitchen Garden, Bush Play and swimming, has been met with much excitement from the children.

In Literacy, we have extended our Poetry unit by an additional week due to the students’ strong engagement and interest. Students have particularly enjoyed learning about penny farthings — the historic bicycles with one large wheel and one small wheel — while exploring a variety of poetry styles and creating their own poems.

In Mathematics, students have been learning about fractions. As part of this unit, we completed a hands-on M&M fraction activity, which provided an engaging and interactive way for students to apply their understanding. The students especially enjoyed the opportunity to eat the M&Ms afterwards!

Our Integrated Studies topic this term is Geography. Students have shown great curiosity and eagerness as they investigate the world around them. Recently, we have been researching different biomes and exploring the unique features and environments of each biome.

It has also been wonderful to see so many students showing initiative and requesting homework. Homework will continue to be offered weekly for those who would like to participate. As a reminder, students are encouraged to read for 10 minutes each evening and practise their fluency for 1 minute each night.
