From the Year 6 Classroom

Hello once again,
We cannot believe that the last week of term is nearly over. We have had a jam packed 9 weeks of learning and fun. With
Literacy
In Literacy, students have continued to immerse themselves in the novel study ‘Can you see me?’ by Libby Scott and Rebecca Wescott, which explores the life of a 11-year-old girl with autism who is navigating the landscape of starting high school. The text has prompted some rich discussion about the text and our own lives.
Maths
In Maths, we are continuing to develop our knowledge and understanding of ‘Measurement’, where they are focusing on converting and finding equivalent measurements for length, mass and capacity.
Inquiry
In Inquiry, we are moving towards the end of our unit, on the ‘Systems of Government’ in Australia. The students have explored how government works, the roles of different branches, developed their knowledge on how a new law is made or amended and the importance of democratic values.

What a fantastic Athletics Carnival we had last Friday. The Yr 6’s conducted themselves so amazingly, been their last carnival at Primary school they left everything out on the track. Thank you to all the parents who come along and cheered the students on, they thoroughly appreciated it!
What a great day it was, at the ‘Boys to the Bush’ Community Engagement Day. The students immersed themselves in the activities that were based around Community, Engagement and Respect. In between all this the students were entertained by ‘The Generator’, Mr Steve Bowen who got the students showing us their best dance moves.
We’re so proud of the way our Year 6 students continue to show leadership and initiative across all areas of school life. They are finishing off term 3 with a great mindset! As always, thank you for your continued support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need any assistance.
