The Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross

This coming Sunday, the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Catholic churches celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross.

This feast is celebrated on the 14th September each year and honours the discovery of the cross Jesus died on and its symbolic transformation into a sign of salvation and hope.

After Jesus’ death, the cross was lost for a long time until it was discovered in 320 AD by Saint Helena in Jerusalem.

The cross reminds us how much God loves us. The cross is a symbol of hope.

Ordinations to the priesthood

On Saturday 13th September, three young men will be ordained as priests by Archbishop Peter at St Patrick’s Cathedral.

Pope Leo XIV's Prayer Intentions

September is dedicated to 'our relationship with all creation’.

Pope Leo XIV has asked the world to pray for love and respect of all creatures during the month of September.

Please try to find some quiet time in your busy day to pray Pope Leo's Prayer Intention for the month of September. Maybe make an effort to sit amongst nature, pause, reflect and thank God for all of creation.  Thank you

For Our Relationship with All Of Creation

Let us pray that, inspired by Saint Francis,

we might experience our interdependence with all creatures who are loved by God and worthy of love and respect.

Amen
