Prayer
Loving God,
We thank You for bringing us together as one school family.
Bless our students with curiosity, kindness, and courage as they learn and grow.
Guide our teachers and staff with wisdom, patience, and joy in their work.
Strengthen our families and friends who support and care for us each day.
Â
Help us to welcome everyone with open hearts, to care for those in need, and to celebrate each other’s gifts.
Â
May our school always be a place of learning, friendship, and faith, where Your love shines through all we do.
Â
We ask this through Jesus, our teacher and friend.Amen.
Amen.

Dear St Michael’s School families,
Â
NAPLAN 2025 DATA
Families of students in Years Three and Five received the results of the NAPLAN testing earlier this term. Last week, Eloise Ellis and I had the opportunity to share our school results with our School Advisory Council (S.A.C.). We are enormously proud of our students for their individual efforts and out students' overall results and how they compare with State and National percentages. It is our firm belief that much of the credit for these successful results is due to our staff's firm commitment to explicit teaching in the past 18 months. This approach to teaching assists students at all ability levels to access the curriculum through repetition of vital information which supports the brain to retain the knowledge in long term memory. It meets the needs of those who need regular revision as well as those who need enrichment.Â
ADMINISTRATION REMINDERS
Absentee notifications - Just a reminder that we are now using the nForma Portal for notification of student absences. Please ensure you notify the office or teacher when your child is absent through nForma.
Â
School Fees - A reminder to families to please bring their fee payments up to date. Please see Kathy Muhllechner in the school office with details about your child's school fees.
Â
Â
FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION
A reminder to all families about this weekend's Fathers / Special Male's Social event from 3-6pm. ALL welcome!
Â
MAJOR PFA FUNDRAISER
I invite all families to consider attending our MAJOR PFA fundraiser for this year, Woodstock social night. The members of the PFA have been working hard to put together a fun night for all of us to enjoy, while raising funds for our school. See the St Michael's PFA News page to read more about it and BOOK YOUR TICKET.
Â
COLOUR RUN FUNDRAISER
On Friday 19th September (next week), our Year Six Graduation committee for 2025 will be leading the school in a Colour Fun Run. The purpose of this event is primarily so that our Year Six families can raise some funds towards their Graduation celebration, but also a way to celebrate the end of term with some exercise and engagement. All year levels will be invited to raise funds but only Year Six students' funds will go to the Graduation.Â
Â
This week an Operoo notice was released and a Sponsorship Sheet went home with all families. Please read the notice carefully to see what your child's class is raising funds for. You can sponsor your child for each lap they run or simply give a donation.
Â
Please help your child select a light-coloured t-shirt (white / yellow) that is ok to have colours "squirted" all over it! No images on the t-shirt is best but a few small or light images won't matter. It would be best not to have a brand new t-shirt, although the dyes we use are organic and DO wash out. Â We note this is on the same day as our Dress Rehearsal - apologies for any confusion. Some students need to bring a white t-shirt for their Production costume as well!

Â
PARTICIPATION IN MACSSIS SURVEYS
A reminder to all families who  received an email about the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (M.A.C.S.) annual surveys. St Michael's views MACSSIS surveys as a positive opportunity for gathering feedback and engaging our community in ongoing school improvement efforts. Students (years 4 - 6) and staff will complete the survey at school during these final few weeks of Term 3.
Â
Families who complete the survey will receive a special treat for their child/children. They will need to send a receipt screen shot of the screen confirming completion to: eellis@smashburton.catholic.edu.au to receive their treat.
Â
GLEN IRIS DISTRICT ATHLETICS DAY - WEDNESDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER
Yesterday, 57 of our 3–6 students represented St Michael’s at the District Athletics Carnival held at the Bill Sewert Athletics Track. Despite the chilly weather, our students showed great determination and gave their very best in each event.
Â
From sprints and long-distance runs to field events such as long jump and shot put, every student displayed resilience, strength, and a wonderful team spirit. It was inspiring to see them support one another and push through the cold conditions with smiles and perseverance.
Â
We are very proud of all our students for the way they conducted themselves on the day. Their efforts, encouragement of their peers, and commitment to trying their hardest are a true credit to them and to our school community.
