Principal's Report

Dear families,

What an incredible few weeks it has been at Rockhampton North Special School! There is such a calm and positive energy flowing through our classrooms, and it is something that visitors often comment on. Recently, both the QASEL President and our school supervisor visited, and they were so impressed with the quality of teaching and learning happening here, as well as the happy and settled tone around our school.

I am also thrilled to share that our students’ English and Mathematics data is above the state average. This is a true reflection of the hard work and commitment of our staff. A very special mention goes to our Pedagogy Coach, Nicole, who has been leading the implementation of phonics across our school. The progress our students are making is simply outstanding.

Listening to staff talk this week about the achievements of their students honestly filled me with pride. Our team are the real winners and front-runners in driving fantastic outcomes for our students. I stand in awe every day, watching the successes our students achieve in all areas of their schooling.

A huge highlight was our Year 12 Graduation. What a big night of celebration it was! Everyone looked absolutely amazing in their evening wear, and the room was filled with joy, pride and a few happy tears. I especially want to acknowledge our families, the parents and carers who have been there for our graduates through every step of their journey, no matter how challenging it has been at times. Your unwavering support has helped your young person reach this milestone.

Thank you for continuing to be part of this wonderful school community. It is a privilege to be part of it with you

Kind Regards

Dehlia Dawson
