Middle School News

Well done to all students on a wonderful term 3. We wish all families a safe and happy holiday.

Work Experience 2026

A reminder that Year 9 students can start to look for their 2026 work experience placements now. It has been fantastic to hear a number of students have already organised their placements.

Expressions of interest to complete a work experience placement at the Parliament of Victoria in Terms 1 and 2, 2026 are now open.

Please encourage interested students to visit their website and lodge an expression of interest via the online link:  https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/teach-and-learn/work-experience/

If students are interested in placements in a hospital setting they should check various hospitals websites regularly. Each hospital opens their placements up at different times.

The Mentone Way

A reminder that we have a number of measures in place to support students' wellbeing and learning at school. These include positives such as a reward for receiving five green chronicles. They also include consequences for behaviours that do not support a student's or other students' learning or wellbeing.

A reminder that if a student is late to school three times, unexplained, they will receive a community service. Students have until lunchtime to see their student manager if they have a valid reason for lateness which parents have been unable to put on Compass.

Similarly, if a student receives three red chronicle entries, they will receive a community service.

As with lateness and uniform infringements, the red chronicle community service is now an automated process.

In Middle School, these community services occur before school.
