2025 NAPLAN Data Reflection

We are excited to share our 2025 NAPLAN results, which show strong growth in both Year 3 and Year 5 compared to last year. This positive trend reflects the focused work happening in every homegroup and the high expectations we hold for all our learners. We are proud of what our students have achieved, and we know this progress is the result of a whole-school effort.

Over the past 18 months, we’ve deepened our approach to teaching by drawing on the Science of Learning to guide our practices in Literacy and Numeracy. Our teachers are using strategies like Daily Reviews and carefully sequenced lessons that reduce cognitive overload and help students retain and apply what they learn. Engagement norms, like mini-whiteboards, are now a regular part of classroom routines, helping students stay engaged and giving teachers immediate feedback to adjust instruction as needed.

We’ve also refined our assessment schedule to ensure that the information we gather about student learning is meaningful and timely. This allows teachers to plan intentionally and respond to student needs. Across the school, we’re using high-quality resources, such as Little Learners Love Literacy and OCHRE, to support our learning and teaching. From Foundation to Year 6, we are sharpening our practice and continually investing in our staff, knowing that this leads to the best outcomes for our students.

We are proud of our progress and confident in the path we are on!

Celebration of Learning

We’re excited to invite all families to our Celebration of Learning on Wednesday 17th September from 3.45 to 6.00pm. This special afternoon is a much-loved SMCM tradition where each homegroup and specialist area showcases the incredible learning that has taken place throughout the year. Learning spaces will be open, and students will have the chance to proudly share their work with you.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s growth, chat with their teacher, and see first-hand the rich and engaging learning happening across the school. We love seeing our community come together for events like this, and we look forward to welcoming you on the day.
