Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Thank you to the parent volunteers who have collated and counted our Father's day stall orders this week  and served our eager shoppers today. There was a lot of careful consideration given to picking out the perfect gift for dads, granddads and special friends. We look forward to our Father's day morning tomorrow!

School Advisory Council

Last night members of our School Advisory Council met for our termly meeting. Our Learning and Teaching Leader, Rafael, presented our 2025 NAPLAN Data. We are pleased to report a continuing upward trend in our data at both Year 3 and Year 5. This is especially pleasing to compare with State and National data which is showing a decline in results. At a school level we are using this data to continue to identify areas for focus and improvement.

The following Principal Report for Term 3 was presented:

2026 Planning

Each year planning for the following school year seems to start earlier and earlier! We have offered 88 places for Prep 2026 and are meeting with families on our waitlist for prep and other year levels. If your family will not be returning to SMCM in 2026 please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer places to new families.

In preparing for 2026 we have begun the recruitment of new staff. I am working with our MACS Business Manager to calculate the budgets for 2026. Payment of school fees by families is essential in managing and planning for expenditure. The 2026 fee structure will be shared in Term 4.

The 2026 school year will begin with Prep transition and small group transition meetings for Year 1-6 on Thursday 29th & Friday 30th January. All students will commence full time on Monday 2nd February. Other dates for  2026 will be shared via the newsletter in Term 4.

Monday 8th September - Pupil Free Day

On Monday staff will be planning and preapring for Term 4. Teachers will use this time to work with curriculum leaders to evaluate the Term 3 learning programs, reflect on student data and continue mapping the curriculum for the reminder of the school year.  We look forward to welcomeing our students back on Tuesday.

This Father’s day,  we pray and give thanks in a special way for all dads and father figures – those here with us and those always in our hearts.

Wishing all the Father figures in our community a Happy Father's Day on Sunday.
