Squash – State Knockout Last 16
The Inverell High squash team, Nicholas, Hayden, Noah and Thomas from Year 10, recently travelled to Muswellbrook for the last 16 round of the state squash knockout against Sydney North Boys. Despite a high-quality opponent, every player showed excellent sportsmanship and determination, with several matches decided by narrow margins.
The experience gained from competing at this level will benefit the team in future competitions. Congratulations to our players on a strong performance and for representing the school with pride. We look forward to their continued growth in the sport.
Thank you to Mrs Scott and Mr Mather for taking and supporting the team.
Dream Cricket Program
Some of our Year 10 students, along with Mr Mather, visited Inverell Public School to take part in the Dream Cricket program, organised by the Inverell Rotary Club.
Dream Cricket is a program designed to give students with a disability the chance to enjoy cricket through fun, modified activities.
It was a fantastic opportnity for our students to support younger learners, get involved in the community and share in the fun of the day.
NSW Netball State Cup Regional Finals
On Wednesday 10th September, the 9/10 Boys and 7/8 Girls Netball teams travelled to Tamworth to compete in the NSW Netball State Cup Regional Finals. With a change of venue from outside to inside to start the day due to weather, as well as reduced numbers in the teams we had a great day.
The 7/8 Girls with only 7 girls for the day played 4 round games against Holy Trinity, McCarthy Catholic College, Armidale, and Narrabri finishing the rounds undefeated. After winning the Semi final against Carinya they went into the final against Holy Trinity. The girls played extremely well only to go down by 1 goal on the buzzer to winners Holy Trinity.
The 9/10 Boys who played the entire day with only 6 players had a great day also. The boys also played 4 round games being undefeated in the rounds against Armidale Teal, Narrabri, Armidale 8 and St Mary's College Gunnedah. They also progressed to final series winning the Semi-Final against MacIntyre before going into the final against St Mary's College Gunnedah. The final went goal for goal with a draw at full time and extra time being required. The boys went out and played their own game coming away as Regional Winners 11-7. This is a great effort as they only has 6 players and all other teams had at least 8.
The boys will now go on to play in the State Finals in November in Sydney.
Thank you to Megan who came along and umpired for us on the day.
