Art

Mr Sawaki-Gillard's class have been exploring how animals have been used in art and how artists have found constant inspiration in grace and beauty of animal forms. The art piece was inspired by Damien Hirst. Damien is an English artist and art collector. To him, butterflies represent the cycle of life and their beauty and ability to fly represent freedom.

Science

This term, Mr S's  students have been exploring the exciting world of Motion and Forces. Through a range of hands-on experiments, they discovered how different contact and non-contact forces affect the movement of objects.

One highlight was testing the effectiveness of seatbelts using playdough passengers. Students observed how seatbelts protect people during sudden stops and collisions by reducing impact forces. They then took on the challenge of designing and building their own vehicles, aiming to keep their playdough passengers safe—even in a crash test!

These practical activities sparked curiosity and creativity, giving students the opportunity to apply scientific concepts to real-world situations. Their problem-solving and innovative thinking shone through as they engineered safer designs for their passengers.

The Motion and Forces unit has been both fun and memorable, deepening students’ understanding of physics while building skills in experimentation, design, and critical thinking. We are excited to continue this journey of discovery in the coming terms!
