Year 3/4 News

Welcome back to Term 4! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday break and are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting final term of 2025.

A few reminders for Term 4:

With the warmer weather approaching, please ensure your child brings a water bottle each day and has their school hat for outdoor activities.

Students are expected to read at home at least four times per week with an adult. We have a reading rewards program in place to celebrate their efforts and encourage a love of reading. Children are welcome to borrow books from school or choose one from home to enjoy.

Fluency

Here’s a look at our fluency practise in action!

Word Work

We are also focusing on the hard and soft ‘c’ sounds in our spelling and phonics lessons this week. You can support your child at home by helping them identify words with the /k/ sound (like cat and cake) and the /s/ sound (like city and circle).

Writing

This week, students have been writing about their holidays and sharing all the fun things they got up to during the break. Next week, we will begin our information text unit and start exploring a range of non-fiction texts.

Maths

We have began our Money unit. Students have been learning to identify Australian coins and notes, represent the same value in different ways, and add up small amounts of money.
