Principal News

End of Term 3

What a way to finish off Term 3. Our production was a huge extravaganza  and once again our Locky kids were amazing, showcasing their dancing, singing and acting talents. A huge thank you to Jenny Howlett for all of the work she put into putting this enormous event together. Please see the  school production page in this newsletter for some pictures and further reflections.

Our final day of Term 3 was a football themed day. Our students and staff came along dressed in footy colours and paraded to their team's song. Our senior students then led the students through a series of footy themed activities, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. We concluded the day with our end of term special lunch of party pies, hot dogs and Zooper-Doopers.

Welcome to Term 4

I hope that everyone enjoyed the holiday break, ( I am guessing it was particularly enjoyable if you are a Brisbane Lions supporter).

Term 4 is going to be a busy one with lots happening within the teaching and learning space as well as extra-curricula events. Please be sure to note key events and times from the dates page in this newsletter and on Xuno.

Mural

Our wall mural has now been completed. This mural was painted by Zowie Crump from the Art of Zowie and it depicts life in Lockington, and uses Zowie's bright and colourful style. The mural cost has been very generously covered by a donation from Northern Constructions and we thank them very much for their support of our school. Zowie visited our students on Monday morning to answer their questions about the mural and talk about the process of designing and painting it.

School Review

As mentioned in our previous newsletter, our school is scheduled for a review (these take place every four years). Our first review day was Wednesday, with three more to follow in the coming weeks. A panel consisting of an appointed reviewer, regional staff and Dan Portwine (our School Council President) as well as LCS staff representatives are conducting  this review. During the process our teaching and support staff, students and families will be invited to provide their thoughts and opinions about what our school priorities, goals and focus should be for the next four years.

Our families play an important part in this process and we would like to provide you with the opportunity to meet with the panel and have your say on what you value about your child/ren's education, what we are doing well and what we could improve upon- these views will help shape the future direction of Lockington Consolidated. Please join our reviewer for an informal chat and cuppa in the school staffroom on either Wednesday  15th of October at 9 am or Wednesday  22nd of October at 3 pm.

That is all for this week, Lisa Duffy.
