Principal's Message

2025 School Theme - Why Team, Why Team Westbreen

Principal’s Message

Another week has past we are almost at the end of another term. It has been great to visit lots of classrooms and see the outstanding learning that is happening across the entire school. Staff and students are working extremely hard to make each day of this term count and to ensure that we are maximizing every learning opportunity.

Father’s Day Stall

I wanted to take the time to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the Father’s Day Stall. It was another hugely successful event for our school community and the students were able to purchase some wonderful gifts to share with families over the weekend. These events provide such a positive experience for our students and we are so grateful for all the work that was completed by our wonder Parents and Friends Committee.

School Values & Policies

With the end of the term approaching, it is a great opportunity to have a conversation about our school values to ensure we have a strong and positive finish to Term 3. Partnerships between school and home is what makes Westbreen such a positive environment and we know we will not be as successful without it. As a school we consistently explore the values in our Respectful Relationships program which ensures our students know how to show our values throughout each day.

Our school values are:

- Respect

- Responsibility

- Achievement

- Care and Compassion

- Cooperation

Planning Week

In Weeks 8-9, our staff will be engaged in planning sessions within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to develop key learning progressions for Term 3 in Literacy, Numeracy, Inquiry, and Wellbeing. During this planning day, teams from across the school will create learning tasks that address the targeted needs of students in these curriculum areas for the upcoming term. As a result, your child's specialist classes may differ from their usual schedule during Week 10 and will be held all on one day.

Division Athletics

On Friday the 12th of September, we will have 25 students representing Westbreen Primary School at Division Athletics. We are extremely proud of these students, and we know they will represent us so well. No matter the outcome for all the events, each student should take the time to celebrate making it this far as it takes hard work and dedication.  Good luck!

We Want Our Parents/ Caregivers/Guardians to Tell Us What They Think!

The 2025 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian opinion survey is currently open to families. Individual links to the survey were sent last Monday to families.  We would appreciate it if you

could find the time to do the survey, as it supports our school's continued reflection on practices impacting student academic and wellbeing outcomes.

Important Reminder: Planning for 2026

This is just a reminder that parents can access the school enrolment form on the Westbreen Primary School website (westbreenps.vic.edu.au). During opening hours, they can also visit the school office to collect a 2026 enrolment form or speak with Mrs. Kerry, our Community & Enrolments Officer. We encourage all future enrolments to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. This includes current WPS students with siblings who will attend their first year of primary school next year.

Upcoming Parent Workshop – “Keep Safe Online”

Save the date: Monday 15th September – 7:00pm-8:00pm.

This workshop for parents/carers by ThinkUKnow Australia provides a balanced perspective of technology, providing information on both its benefits and its challenges.

Topics included within the presentation are specifically aimed at educating and increasing awareness about children being online, including avoiding inappropriate contact, online grooming, self-generated content and how to get help.

The workshop will take place at the school, however, the exact room is yet to be confirmed and will be shared soon. Further notification will be sent by the end of the week to all families who wish to attend this workshop.

Thank you for your continued support. We're looking forward to a wonderful week of learning, growth and smiles!
