As part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing in Primary Schools initiative, we are exploring the opportunity to provide access to a school-based psychologist through onPsych.

onPsych offers high-quality mental health support for students and families—conveniently at school—with no out-of-pocket cost when referred by a GP (services are bulk billed through Medicare). Families can generally access up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions each year.

How can onPsych help? onPsych’s qualified clinical psychologists, psychologists, and mental health social workers support children and young people with a wide range of needs, from everyday challenges to more complex concerns, such as:

  • Building and maintaining friendships
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Anxiety, fears, and phobias
  • Exam or school-related stress
  • Low mood or depression
  • Social skills and confidence building
  • Attention and focus (e.g. ADHD)
  • Emotional regulation
  • Grief and loss
  • Autism support

They also offer practical group sessions that focus on:

  • Communication skills
  • Problem solving
  • Stress and anger management
  • Motivation and negotiation
  • Relaxation and mindfulness
  • Parenting support

We believe this could be a highly valuable service for our school community. If you are interested in accessing onPsych services for your child or family member, please complete this short Google Survey. Your response will help us determine the level of interest and guide next steps.
