Primary Update
What a joy it was to visit History Day on Thursday and watch our Year 6 students supporting and encouraging our Year 2 students. What a great day of learning! A huge thank you to the Year 2 teachers for this mammoth effort. Opportunities like this, where children immerse themselves in their learning truly stick with them and engage them for future learning.
This year we also entered some student work in the Wagga Show. I’ve been looking through the entries and it is so impressive to see so many of our students receive awards. Well done to all who entered, you should feel very proud of your efforts.
Our SRC has been persistent in asking for a Crazy Hair Day, and we’ve listened! This will be combined with our Mufti Day next Thursday.
Whilst some days are warming up, the weather looks like it will drop down again, so please ensure your children are still in winter uniform. Summer uniform will begin after the holidays.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." – Colossians 3:23
Eisteddfod
Our talented young musicians shone brightly at this year’s Eisteddfod, competing with passion against other schools.
The Year 1 recorders earned a well-deserved Highly Commended for their performance, while the Year 2 recorders took home an incredible 1st place!
The Year 3/4 ensemble wowed the judges, securing 1st place!
Our Year 6 band delivered a lively show, achieving a solid 3rd place, and the Year 5 flutes played beautifully to claim 2nd place.
We’re so proud of every student’s hard work, dedication, and love for music - your efforts are truly inspiring!
Year 1 visit Erin Earth
We had a fantastic time learning about animal habitats and living things at Erin Earth. Children were fascinated by the hollows they discovered on their nature walk and expressed wonder and excitement as they explored the gardens and looked for tadpoles. We discovered worms, chickens and a variety of insects. A highlight was tasting freshly picked snow peas and exploring the wetlands for tadpoles. Another favourite was playing on their playground.
We’re thankful that God provides us with land and animals to look after and care for!
🌿 Loose Parts Play in Year 1 & 2! 🌿
We’re very excited to be setting up some outdoor loose parts areas in Year 1 and 2 for children to use as extra learning spaces and during break times. Loose parts play encourages creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. It fits beautifully with our inquiry-based Reggio approach, where children explore, experiment, and learn through hands-on discovery.
To help us get started, we would love your support in collecting resources from home. Items don’t need to be new - recycled or leftover materials are perfect!
Here are some ideas you might have at home:
- Clean bottle tops and jar lids
- Paddle pop sticks
- Cardboard tubes (paper towel or wrapping paper rolls)
- Small boxes and cartons
- Corks
- Pieces of fabric, ribbon, string, or wool
- Stones, shells, pinecones
- Plastic containers (clean, no sharp edges)
- Wooden offcuts (smooth, safe edges)
- Old kitchen utensils (spoons, strainers, tongs)
These items can be delivered toMrs Alcorn’s office or directly to the Year 1 and 2 rooms.
