Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
With only days to go until the big night, excitement is certainly at fever pitch around Mackellar this week. Tickets are almost all gone, costumes are almost ready, rehearsals are being fine-tuned and songs are being sung with gusto. Everything is set for our second biennial production with this year's themed - Age of Reason. Whatever you do, do not miss this event which is sure to be a hit.
On the big night, please be sure to sign your child in with their classroom teacher as they will be seated in an area separate to the main audience. This will take some time and we appreciate your patience. Likewise at the end of the evening all students must be signed out prior to departure. We know this can be time consuming, however we want everyone to leave as happy and safe as when they arrived. Thank you in advance.

The following morning, school will be open as normal, however we understand this is off the back of a late night for many of our students. To support everyone, the first two hours of Friday will be relaxed activities so if parents choose to give their child a sleep-in, we completely understand. Formal classes will commence after recess at 11:30am. Students arriving late do not need to sign in at the office. They can go straight to their classroom and be checked in their by their classroom teacher.
Recently, you will have received a XUNO message with a link and code to answer the Parent Opinion Survey. Once complete, please take a screenshot of the final page and send it through to mackellar.ps@education.vic.gov.au for your chance to win one of two Osprey Drones. The winner of these drones will be announced once the survey has shut. Ideally, we would like each family to complete the survey if possible. The link will be once again sent via XUNO so you can access it for your chance to win in case you missed the first one.
As term three draws to a close and preparations for 2026 enter full swing, we once again ask any parent who has a child for grade prep next year to enrol them as soon as possible. If you require any assistance to do so, the staff in the office are more than happy to assist. We would like final numbers for prep very early into term four before prep transition commences to ensure all can take part.
Finally, a reminder that the last day of term is next Friday, September 19. Students will be dismissed at 2:30pm on this day so please make the necessary arrangements. As always, TheirCare will be available from 2:30pm for children needing supervision and throughout the holiday perio.
Kind Regards,
Simon McGlade
Principal
