The Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee

In exciting news, we have been notified that two students were successful in progressing through to the National Level round of the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee. We are pleased to announce that Alexandra S (4AC) and Talia T (5/6BB) have progressed through to the next round.

Across the Nation there were more than 82,000 student registrations this year - a new record for the Bee. Two hundred students from each reading level in each state and territory progress to next week's State and Territory Finals. In other words, it is extremely competitive, and the difference is often thousandths of a second.

The State Level round will take place online this week  between September 1st and September 5th.

We wish Alexandra and Talia all the very best of luck at the next round!

We also wish to congratulate students who were recognised as either Class Champions or Year Level Champions.  Year 3/4 Class Champions and Year Level Champions received their certificates at last Friday’s assembly and Year 5/6 Class and Year Level Champions will receive their certificates at this Friday’s assembly.  Well done to all students listed below.  Every student who took part in The Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee will receive a participation certificate in the coming weeks.  Well done to everyone who joined in for your efforts!

Celebration of Learning

In the final week of term on Wednesday, September 17th (5-7pm) we have the Celebration of Learning.

The Celebration of Learning is always a very popular event on our school’s calendar and is a wonderful opportunity for you to come along and get an insight into what your child/ren are learning at school.

All classroom spaces as well as specialist areas will be open for students to lead their families through and share their learning. Tracey and her team in the canteen will also have the BBQ fired up along with other snacks and drinks also available.

Swimming and Water Safety

The swimming program commenced this week for Prep, Grade 1 and 2AA and 2CV students.

Year 2KG, year 3 and year 4 students will take part in their swimming program next week. In the final week of term Scotsburn students will participate in their swimming program and year 5/6 students will participate in their swimming program in week 4 of next term.

Students in year 2KG, year 3 and year 4 have received a form for parents to complete regarding their swimming ability. This is due back at school by this Thursday, September 4th, please.
