Year 9 Report

Keele Hillas

It has been an exciting and important time for our Year 9 students at Woodmans Hill Secondary College, as they have recently been involved in a range of programs designed to support their future pathways, subject choices, and personal wellbeing.

Morrisby Interviews

Earlier this Term, all Year 9 students completed the Morrisby career profiling tool. This program gives students an insight into their individual strengths, interests, and aptitudes, helping them explore possible career and study pathways. Each student then took part in a one-on-one interview with a qualified careers consultant to unpack their results. These conversations gave students greater clarity about their future goals and how their subject choices in the coming years can help them get there.

Year 10 Course Counselling

Building on the Morrisby process, our students also participated in Year 10 Course Counselling. This is an important step in preparing for senior school, as it helps students choose subjects that not only interest them but also align with their future aspirations. With guidance from our staff, students considered the subjects that best suit their skills and career interests, ensuring they are set up for success as they move into VCE, VCE:VM, or other future pathways.

SSMART ASSK Program

Alongside career planning, Year 9 students also took part in the SSMART ASSK Program, delivered by Ballarat Community Health. This program raises awareness about safe party practices, harm minimisation, and making positive choices around alcohol, drugs, vaping, and relationships. Students engaged in interactive workshops, theatre performances, and expert panels, building the knowledge and skills to make informed and responsible decisions.

Looking Ahead

As Term 3 draws to a close, we wish all of our Year 9 students a safe and enjoyable school holiday break. Next term will mark an exciting milestone – their final term as members of the Junior School. We look forward to supporting them as they finish this chapter of their schooling journey and prepare to step confidently into the senior years at Woodmans Hill Secondary College.
