As term 3 comes to a close we are well & truly getting back into our history discipline.
Year 7's are learning about the development of Ancient Rome, its uniqueness as well as comparisons to other ancient civilisations we looked at earlier in the year like Sumer & Australia. Watch out for our students making shield formations on the oval!
Our Year 8's are nearing the end of their inquiry into the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, analysing the reasoning, brutality & long term impacts of this significant period. They will then compare this impact of colonisation with Australian impacts on First Nations peoples & the various other forced labour used to build the colonies.
Year 9's are in the midst of an exploration of climate change, tracking its impacts & human responses. Next term they will learn all about the First World War & its impact on Australia.
Lastly, our Year 10's have begun their last unit, looking at the development of the Rights & Freedoms movement in Australia, tracking its causes, consequences and the lessons learnt from the US Civil Rights movement. This is the last unit our Year 10's will do in Humanities before they begin their Step Up program late term 4.
Most of our Year 12 subjects have now finished teaching the core content of our study designs and we move now to revision and application. Spare a thought for our scored students who will be coming in over the holidays to sit their practice exams, this is a great opportunity to experience the process of the exams and get feedback to know exactly what they need to work on before final exams commence. Best of luck!
