Prep

There were rainbows on rainbows during Art class this week! Lots of talk about composition, watercolour painting technique and of course, colour.

Grade 1/2

The Grade 1/2 have been busy creating all sorts of Space related artworks in readiness for the showcase next Thursday afternoon. We look forward to welcoming families into their classrooms to see all their hard work over the term!

Grade 3/4

After completing a 2D painting of an ice-cream, complete with waffle cone texture and tinted scoops, the Grade 3/4s have constructed a 3D version using recycled materials and plaster. The dripping sauce, sprinkles and air dry clay toppings were a big hit - almost good enough to eat!

Grade 5

The Grade 5 Buddy Bears are now complete and in the hands of their new owners. There was much excitement when gifting them to their 2025 buddy. I'm sure they will be treasured and well-loved for many years to come!

Grade 6

Grade 6 students have been busy under-glazing their legacy tiles, ready for their second firing next week.

The past couple of weeks have also seen the completion of their Graduation Portraits. The students loved testing out gelli printing for their background, using texture tools and contrasting colour combinations to achieve striking results.

Art Expressions

The Prep-2 students got creative in the Lamp Art Expression with tissue paper, glue and embellishments, turning a plain Ikea lamp into a creative masterpiece! Thank you to the parent helpers for your assistance on the day. The students were very proud of their work!

Students in Grades 3-6 were fortunate enough to have Anna from Anna Campbell come and share her garment design process; from mood boards and sketches, to mock ups, fabric choices and the final completed dress. There were boxes of gorgeous materials to choose from and Anna was so impressed by the student's beautiful designs and creativity. Thank you Anna for coming and inspiring us all!

STEM Expressions

Friday 1st of November was the STEM "Expressions" program. This program provided an engaging opportunity for students to explore the exciting principles of flight. For students from Prep to Grade 2, the focus was on understanding how rockets launch into the sky. Through hands-on activities, they observed the power needed to lift rockets and discussed what makes them soar. Older students in Grades 3 to 6 dove deeper into the science behind flight, investigating the four essential forces: lift, weight, thrust and drag. Through experiments and collaborative learning, they gained a practical understanding of how these forces work together to enable flight, enriching their appreciation for the science and engineering behind flying objects.
