Literacy

This term the students will be doing an Author Study as part of their Literacy Units. We will be exploring the extensive catalogue of Eric Carle. We will investigate his style, discuss common elements from his stories and unpack the themes and topics he loves to write about. 

We will use his style and stories to inspire our own writing and will use a Writer's Checklist to refine and revise the pieces that we write each week. 

As part of our Word Study, we will continue on with our Sounds Write units where we will begin to practise words with 5 sounds (such as spend, drink and print) and also learn some sounds that are represented by two letters (digraphs) such as ch, sh, th and ng.
