Year 3 Transition to Carlsruhe 2025
On Monday our Year 3 students headed out to Carlsruhe for their transition to Carlsruhe morning. They were supported by our current Year 4 students who inducted them into the daily life of a student at Carlsruhe. The animals were well and truly spoiled by all the attention they received. This transition morning allowed our Year 3 students to gain a better understanding of the expectations and hopefully helped to alleviate some of the worries students may feel when transitioning to Carlsruhe. The time students spend at Carlsruhe often provides students with the opportunity to grow and mature, preparing them the step up to become school leaders in Year 5/6.
Year 3 parents were also given the opportunity to learn more about Carlsruhe on Monday night, when many parents attended our information evening. These opportunities would not be possible for our students and families without the work of our Year 3 and Year 4 teachers who took the time to plan and organise both events.
Carlsruhe Fair
We are into the final countdown to our Carlsruhe Fair on Saturday 23 rd November, thank you to all our Fair Committee members who have been busily working away over the last 2years, in preparation for this event. An event like this takes a lot of time to organise and we appreciate all the support our community provides whether that be in sharing your time or via donations. Updates will continue to be sent out via Compass as we continue to require volunteers to sign up to support on the day and collect final donations. We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the day to enjoy the food, entertainment, rides and activities that have been planned.
Driver Safety
This week sadly a Victorian school has been impacted by an accident during school pick uptime, which resulted in the loss of a young life. Our thoughts and sympathies are with their school community during this sad and challenging time. It is a timely reminder for our community about road safety during pick up and drop off time, including the choices made around parking. This includes not parking in the school driveways to drop off and pick up students.
Call out for Canteen Volunteers
Our Canteen would not be able to operate without the support of our community who kindly donate their time to support the canteen operations. Our canteen is not run to make a profit for the school, it operates to provide a service for our families. Jenni currently has no volunteers registered for Wednesdays and Fridays from the week beginning 11 th November,if you have any availability on these days this term and can volunteer, your support would begreatly appreciated. If you have availability on other days please let Jenni know as sometimes volunteers have to cancel and it can be tricky to get a replacement.
If we are unable to get enough volunteers we may need to limit the number of QKR orders made on days with no volunteers.
Planning for 2025
As mentioned in our last newsletter, we are well and truly into our planning for 2025. If you know that your child/ren will not be returning to Woodend PS next year (excluding Year 6
students) please send an email to the office (woodend.ps@education.vic.gov.au) as soon as possible. If you have a child who will be commencing in Foundation in 2025, please bring your enrolment form to the office as soon as possible.
Curriculum Day
On Monday we will be holding our Term 4 Curriculum day where staff will be given time to work on Semester 2 student reports, which are due out to families at the end of the term. Students are expected to return to school on Wednesday 6 th November after the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday.
