The focus this week was understandably on our Year 12 students as they participated in final assemblies and year group events, said goodbye to their teachers and officially concluded their formal schooling during the Valedictory at St George’s Cathedral on Wednesday evening.
In keeping with their strong reputation of supporting school events, it has been lovely to see our Year 7 and 8 students doing their part to ensure the Year 12’s have a fantastic final week. From writing farewell cards during PCGs, to Stella, Taylor and Billie making heartfelt speeches during the Stations of the School event, to the Year 7 Rock Band and Year 8 Advanced Music Program band performing for the Year 12s on their final morning, the positive relationships between our senior and junior years certainly has been highlighted and is something that indeed makes this school very special.
For our Year 7 and 8 students there are now seven weeks left of Term Four. There will be assessments to complete for each subject and it is therefore important they focus during classes and set aside time at home to revise. Getting the small things right like arriving on time for PCG each morning, remembering to change into formal uniform after Phys Ed classes and remembering to wear blazers to Chapel on Mondays, will ensure conversations with teachers remain positive throughout the final academic term of 2024.
As the weather starts to warm up it is recommended students take advantage of lunchtime co-curricular groups. The first is ‘Park Play’ which runs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes and the Walking Group with Miss Hewitt which runs on Friday lunchtimes. Both groups provide students with the opportunity to step out of the building and enjoy the spring-time weather conditions within the city environment alongside their friends. I hope to see lots of Year 7 and 8 students sign up.
