Handy uniform tips

What an amazing start we have had to Term 4, culminating in Wednesday night’s Valedictory celebration where we farewelled our Year 12 students with pomp and ceremony. It has been wonderful to see our students return to school, resplendent in their summer uniforms. However, blazers are still required for Monday Chapel and Assembly, so I have suggested to students that they consider leaving their blazers in their lockers, now that they are not required to wear them to and from school each day during this term. This will alleviate the need to remember to grab it on a chaotic Monday morning.

The school has received delivery of school photos from Kapture Photography and these were distributed to students late last week. Please keep a look out for these in student’s bags. If any families are looking to still place an order for school photos, please contact Kapture Photography directly via their website at https://www.kapture.com.au/. The school code for photo orders is A25XU9.

Finally, I would like to remind all students about bag etiquette at St George’s. School bags are required to be kept in lockers throughout the school day, from PCG to Period 6. If students need a bag to transport their learning resources, then a small tote bag is acceptable for this purpose; although we also have a St George’s tote nag which I highly recommend and that is available from Student Reception.

Recently we have had an increase in many students wanting to take their bags with them to CQU, especially for Period 6, to avoid having to return to the main building. This is not an acceptable practice and presents a significant occupational health and safety issue as there is no capacity for school bag storage at that site.

In extenuating circumstances, students can request a bag pass via a request to the School Principal by their parents. Outside of that, it is important that all students adhere to our policy regarding school bag use for not only the health and safety of the whole School Community but also for their longer term back health. We have built in transition times that allow students to take things to and from their lockers before school, at recess time, at lunch time and at the end of the day. This means students only need to carry two periods of books with them at any time.
