“Change is inevitable. You can either resist it, and potentially get run over by it, or you can choose to cooperate with it, adapt to it, and learn how to benefit from it. When you embrace change, you will begin to see it as an opportunity for growth.” _ Jack Canfield, author
This time of year always brings a mixture of emotions. This week we farewelled graduates of the Class of 2024 who have led the school with intelligence, humility and lots of energy. Sadness is mixed with admiration and expectation for what they have achieved and what they will achieve in the years to come.
It was wonderful to watch the Year 12s embrace the big events this week.
The Handover Assembly and Wannabe Day, with a trip to Bounce and a win over staff at the inaugural Staff V Student Volleyball, were the absolute highlights for me seeing these events for the first time.
Leaving high school is one of the most significant milestones in a young person’s life. Most are ready. Some have been ready for a while and a few will feel a little lost without the routine that has directed their lives for so long. Whatever they feel, I hope they will look back on their time at St George’s with pride and happy memories.
This week also saw us welcome the incoming Class of 2025 student leaders.
I am confident this group will continue to build on the legacy of the past and have a significant impact on life at our school. Their leadership role begins now.
