During the recent term break, three of our Year 10 students had the remarkable opportunity to attend the prestigious Fogarty Futures Camp. Zara Jones, Jade Fletcher, and Sophie Gardner were selected for this enriching experience, which promises to equip young minds with the tools and inspiration needed for future success. This camp, known for its rigorous selection process, offers a unique blend of academic challenge and personal development, aimed at fostering the leaders of tomorrow.
The students met Greta Bushell, a recent St George’s alumna and current Fogarty Scholar. Greta's journey from a St Gt George’s Anglican Grammar School student to a distinguished scholar served as an inspiring testament to the possibilities that lie ahead for Zara, Jade, and Sophie. Greta’s insights and experiences provided a perspective on the benefits of dedication, hard work and the pursuit of excellence.
The Fogarty Futures Camp is renowned for its comprehensive program that includes leadership workshops, team-building activities, and sessions on critical thinking and problem-solving. For our students, the camp was more than an academic exercise; it was an opportunity to broaden their horizons, build lasting friendships, and gain a deeper understanding of their potential. They engaged in stimulating discussions, collaborative projects, and interactive sessions that challenged their assumptions and encouraged them to think creatively.
The value of the Fogarty Futures Camp extends beyond the immediate experience. It plants the seeds of ambition and nurtures the growth of essential skills that will benefit our students in their academic pursuits and future careers. Zara, Jade, and Sophie returned from the camp with renewed confidence, a clearer sense of purpose, and a network of like-minded peers who share their aspirations.
