Sowing the SEADs of Success

From the Assistant Principal Wellbeing and Engagement R‑12

Term 4

In support of our individual SEAD values, our students across the pre-school to Year 12 have multiple learning opportunities to demonstrate and cultivate the following key areas:

  • Resilience perseverance and grit
  • Kindness and empathy
  • Social and Emotional Intelligence
  • Authentic Relationships and connectedness
  • Responsible online engagement
  • Identity and sense of purpose

Authentic Relationships and connectedness = ROSE GIVING

The value of authentic relationships and connectedness was demonstrated clearly in yesterday’s Rose-Giving Service in the senior school. The tears, laughter and joy that was celebrated amongst all senior students as they farewelled the Class of 2024 was unforgettable. The Year 11 Leaders showcased many happy memories through funny stories, images and videos that have been collected over the years. The true “sisterhood” and strong connections that we promote at Loreto was highlighted at this highly emotional and memorable event.

Goodbye to Loreto and Hello to our future selves

Part of the Year 12 celebrations this week involved dress up options.

Monday of this week our students were invited to dress up in a “nostalgia” outfit and on Tuesday dress up as their “future self”

The concept of “future self” is an interesting one, with our girls not only celebrating creatively their hopes, aspiration and goals for their future career but also lifestyle choices.

One of my favourite quotes…

Our SEAD program supports our girls from R-12 to think about Future Pathways.

SEAD Future Pathways

  • R-2 Learning about who I can be
  • 3-4 Developing a broad understanding of my future
  • 5-6 Exploring my future identity
  • 7-8 Investigating future pathways
  • 9-10 Broadening my identity and understanding of my future
  • 11-12 Planning for my career and tertiary pathway

In addition, a great resource for Loreto College students, parents and families to explore future options is the site Career Tools – click link below

Loreto College Marrayatville – CAREER TOOLS

We encourage our girls to think beyond the stereotype and look beyond the status in society and in true Mary Ward thinking “Women in time to come will do much”. We encourage our girls to think beyond the now and explore what “work” would look like in the future – see link below.
