From the Classroom

Grade 3/4WA

Grade 3/4 Term Four.

It has been an enjoyable start to Term Four. The children have been focused and enthusiastic with all their learning activities.

We enjoyed a visit from our Galen buddies in week two, and they helped us clean up the garden! On their next visit we plan to fix the watering system and plant some pumpkins and sunflowers!

This term our learning is Science based as we look at connections with earth and space. Our learning is leading towards the children designing and making a model of their own island.

In preparation we look at geography, climate zones and the effect of heat on our earth. This involves some experimentation, and we will be learning to read, write and follow procedural texts. Maths is heavily involved in our experimentation and in our cooking which we have really enjoyed!

Our garden has provided us with some great cabbages and silver beet which we have enjoyed eating…yes, we enjoyed vegetables!! Mrs Millar has shared her culinary skills with us, preparing food and slime! Thank you, Mrs Miller.

Our first Religious Education unit this term was all about helping and serving others. We used the Kindness Boomerang as a model for iMovies that we created in groups. Some budding actors in the making! Won’t be long until we begin our Christmas Unit!

We have been doing some amazing work in Auslan. The videos of the children signing that they created this week were very impressive!

The big question has been – “When’s swimming?” We will be swimming in Week 6 starting on 11th November.

Our end of year testing has begun. It is a great time of year to see how much each child has progressed and it is wonderful to see them be so proud of their efforts. Everyone has improved! The children have worked well all year, but they have also been helped along by Mrs Baker in English time, who has done a wonderful job with reading and spelling. Thank you, Mrs Baker.

Thanks for all the efforts that you put into getting your children to school well-presented and on time each day! Your children are a credit to you.

I look forward to the remainder of the term.

Cathie, Lucia, Lisa and Helen.
