Faith & Mission Report

For the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and the wider Chevalier Family, the heart of Jesus reveals a God who is love and who loves creation intimately and unreservedly.
Monday 21st of October was the 117th anniversary of the death of Father Jules Chevalier, the founder of the MSC. This is a good time to reflect on the importance of his belief in the love of Jesus as demonstrated through the Sacred Heart. All MSC throughout the world celebrate this day. At Monivae, we celebrate this with our Thanksgiving Mass, which was held on Friday the 25th of October prior to the Cadet Parade.
As mentioned in the last newsletter, Mission Fair Day occurred on the last day of term 3. This day is to recognise the lessons from our Catholic Social teachings, especially Preferential Treatment of the Poor, and Human Dignity. As a community, the Monivae students collected over $8000 for the cause. All funds raised by Monivae are donated to worthy causes, with the majority to the MSC Missions Office in Sydney and local Catholic organisations.
If you wish to know more about the MSC Missions Office, you can visit their website at https://australia.mscmission.org/
We also get the opportunity to celebrate being part of the Monivae and MSC community.
At the beginning of Term 4, it was Monivae’s turn to honour 150 years of the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat, by receiving one of the five Aboriginal message sticks that were distributed to schools in the area carrying the special message from Romans 12:12 to ‘be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
A small liturgy acknowledging the arrival of the stick was held, recognising Monivae’s part in catholic education in the area. After spending a week with us, the message stick then went to St Augustine's Primary School Maryborough
