Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the start of term 4. It has been a busy few weeks at the College, and I remain deeply grateful for the efforts of everyone in our community.

On Thursday evening, during the annual VCE Visual Art and Technology Exhibition, the special guest speaker was Hamilton gallery Artistic Director Joshua White.  The student artwork and technology displays were remarkable, reflecting the creativity, energy, and passion of our young people, who exemplify the integrity and individuality nurtured through their studies in Arts and Technology.

Wednesday, we bid farewell to our Year 12 students, starting with a celebratory breakfast at the Speckled Frog and culminating in an Assembly with family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to our staff who organised the day, and to the families and friends who joined us in celebrating this significant milestone. This year’s guest speaker was Old Collegian Damian Melican, class of 1976. Next week, our Year 12 students will begin their VCE exams, and we hold them in our thoughts and prayers during this time.

Today we are trailing a new format for our Cadet Parade holding it on a Friday afternoon rather than a Sunday. Many hours of practice, marching and polishing of brass has gone into making this another important event in the life of our College. My sincere thanks is extended to Major Sarah Byron, Monivae Army Cadet Unit Officer Commanding, for her significant organisation and leadership of the Parade. I also extend a warm welcome and thanks to our Reviewing Officer, Captain Charles Wright. I am very proud of the efforts of our Cadet leaders and Cadets this year.

This Friday 25 October is World Teachers’ Day. The world owes much to our tireless, courageous teachers who give so much of themselves ensuring that the students in their care have opportunities to truly flourish and to transform the world. In Catholic Education this transformation includes creating a just and peaceful world. A world based on the Reign of God.

By celebrating this day and showing our appreciation, we can help create a supportive and encouraging environment that allows teachers to thrive and continue making a positive impact on our children's lives.
