Balloon rockets

Today while outdoor play we gathered for ballon activity. Children were provided with the balloons some blew the m confidently and some needed help. To aid them, step by step instructions were provided. With few turns they were able to blow the balloons. It was a therapeutic play that boosts resilience. It can also build persistence as they learn to keep trying even when it is difficult.

It’s what happened when the children saw their peers blowing big balloon, they tried their best and patiently waited till it blew up to their need for their turn. We tied a string to the piles and stick their balloons to see how far each other’s went. What children predicted that the bigger the balloon was blown the farther it will go. But to our surprise the results were different.

Sports day activities

Sunny morning perfect for our sports day, YAY! There were heaps of indoor and outdoor activities were arranged for our kinder children including table tennis, snakes and ladders, twisters, mini golf, skittles, and the obstacle course. Our children were really engaged with the whole day filled with fun.

We outsourced some instructed physical activities to our program, where Hailey and Dylan from little heroes Australia came to run the session. With them after the warmup activity we got ready to go to the moon, we did the moon walk and found aliens, then we aim the stacked-up buckets where we were instructed on how to aim by posturing correctly. Later in the session we learnt how to catch and pass the basketball and also to bounce and catch the ball using both and one hands respectively.

The physical activities are aimed for the development of gross motor skills, hand and eye coordination and enhancing concentration level.

Literacy Wombat Stew

"Wombat Stew" a favourite book. Using props to tell the story allows the children to immerse themselves in the narrative. Changing the ending to have the wombat fall into the stew adding a twist to the end.

Children narrated the story, encouraged their confidence in storytelling and helped them express their ideas.
