We’re here to celebrate student effort over 2024, and in saying that I’d like to thank and acknowledge several people

- Thank you to staff who have retired, moved on, are taking leave from our school in 2024/25. We and the students have benefited greatly from your input over your time here. - Lastly to the students, well done you’ve made it to the end of the year. To our 2024 SRC students, thank you. All leadership students who took opportunities in 2024. Thanks to our 2024 School Captains Mollie and Em, you have been wonderful ambassadors and leaders in our school community and I look forward to our 2025 Captains Mattea and Buzz’s involvement next year. The school will continue to increase student leadership opportunities moving forward.

2024 saw a new school strategic plan (SSP), developed. The whole learning community had input towards this. Groups of parents, students and staff were surveyed (in August), and their thoughts, as well as the review teams thoughts were captured. The plan was built from that process. From our previous four-year strategic plan we made gains in curriculum and wellbeing areas and our new SSP will continue to build these areas.

There are new funding streams (monetary), to help with student learning. We have had internal staff movement in that area to work towards maximising what we can access to support our learners. We’re in the early stages of targeting this assistance, but that will be a major focus moving into 2025.

2024 has seen the continuation of a literacy focus across the school, especially in the primary area. Sounds Write has continued in the lower primary and we have other literacy programs supporting higher primary and lower secondary. Encouraging your children to read is one of the best things as a parent you can do. Reading is tied to comprehension, communication and imagination.

We are realigning our reporting system to provide students and home more progressive feedback on the learning journey. There will be more conversation opportunities, with assessments sent home across the semester. Parent/teacher interviews will be the same and the final semester report will be a snapshot of what you have been shared over those two terms. We will seek feedback on reports so that we can provide the best communication to students and home.

There is real positive momentum going into 2025. The college was granted $13.1 million to refurbish our current existing buildings and create an engaging landscape to fit in with student and learning environment needs.

For student engagement we will still run our equestrian program and electives across F – 10 levels. Agriculture will be a focus through every year level. Across the board academically, we will look to challenge our students to achieve their best, meeting them at their point of need and extending them whenever possible.

I enjoy working at Edenhope College with everyone in the whole learning community. There are always challenges, but we always strive to do what’s best for our students!
