Leadership Report
We are now in the middle of Term 4 and it has been a fabulous start to the term. Students are all busily settled into learning and classes are working really well. We are progressing towards our final End-of-Year DIBELS Reading Assessments in Week 5 and look forward to seeing continued improvement in student reading results.
Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL)
At MPS, we believe that a positive learning environment is crucial for every student’s success. The Department for Education, PBL approach, fosters positive student behaviour, engagement and participation.
At our recent Pupil Free Day, staff engaged in a range of individual and collaborative activities to review aspects of the PBL framework. Classroom Design was a focus and
teachers had the opportunity to review their classroom design; tweak, add and refresh their learning spaces. The way our classrooms are set up plays a significant role in student engagement. Our classrooms are designed to promote collaboration and active learning through:
- Flexible seating arrangements encouraging group work and discussions.
- Quiet areas in our classrooms allowing for individual reflection and self-regulation.
- Interactive displays (Ready to Learn Scale/Class Expectations), enabling purposeful, daily student-check in and review.
- Teachers modelling high expectations in organisation, encouraging tidy learning spaces and student readiness to learn.
Implemenation of the PBL framework encourages students to develop essential social skills. Teaching clear expectations for behaviour and recognising students who demonstrate these positive actions, creates a culture where everyone feels respected and valued. Celebrating these achievements helps reinforce good choices and builds supportive class and school communities.
Volunteers at school - we need you!
We are already in the planning stages for 2025 and are looking to further engage with our parent and community body.
At the Governing Council Meeting on Monday evening, we discussed ways to get our parents and family volunteers back into our school and classes. We understand that COVID placed stringent measures on parent volunteers and saw the doors close to a lot of voluntary support. We are looking to get this back at our school and would love for you to be involved!
If you are interested in supporting reading in classes or being an extra set of hands to support in classrooms, we would love to hear from you! We will have an expression of interest register at the Front Office with Candia. Interested parents are requested to pop your name at the Front Office.
More information can be found on the Department for Education website, see link below.

Volunteers require a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) and a Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC).
