Learning in S33

Senior School Davie is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

The amazing S33!

Over the last few weeks, the students of S33 have been amazing in more ways than one – they’ve been able to take in their stride the fact that their teacher had to take a couple of weeks off due to sickness whilst writing their Information Reports and delving deeper into the classroom novel -  ‘The Last Bear’.

Upon my arrival back into the classroom, I reached out to various support teachers, as well as fellow Year 5 teachers, all commenting on the fact that the S33 students had ‘held their head up high’ and embraced flexibility in their learning spaces.

S33 have worked their way through various texts, using elements of what they’ve read to create their Information Reports, which were based around the Poles — the Arctic and the Antarctic. From there, they decided to write about an animal of their choosing…

Away from the classroom, S33 is gearing up for our day away to Phillip Is. I expect our group to paddle out on our Surfing Day on the 4th of December and put Kelly Slater to shame! Whilst surfing and taking in the sun, we plan to use this day as a day of celebration for the class and the kids of S33, acknowledging the fact that they’ve been an amazing group to teach and be around.

S33 has also shown to be quite the committed group when it comes to birthday celebrations. The latest cake that we’ve celebrated was Mr. Davie’s 22nd Birthday, which was greeted by many yummy treats upon arrival to the classroom—shortbreads, mudcake, and some heartwarming handwritten cards from the kids.

Heading towards Christmas the classroom of S33 will be well celebrated with a well lit tree, secret Santa, countless decorations and hand-made crafts that will surely engage us all!
