Reflections on the Year 6 Canberra Tour

In week 2 of term 4, the Grade 6 students, teachers, Mr Kent, Natalie Campbell, Jeremy Yeates and Nick Smith went to Canberra.

On the first day of our Canberra tour everyone was excited to get to the motel called, Ibis Styles Eaglehawk and find out our cabins. Throughout the days we were on the move, going to amazing places some of them being, Old Parliament House, Parliament House, Australian Institute of sport, The Royal Australian Mint, The Royal Thai embassy, the CSIRO discovery centre, Electoral Education Centre and Questacon. Her are some Grade 6 students’ thoughts about the camp:

Foundation FireEd Visit Part 2

This week foundation students had their second visit by the firefighters. This visit included a team of local firefighters visiting along with their fire truck.

Students had a great time on the day using the fire hose to spray water!

We also reviewed the importance of choosing a safe meeting place with families and checking the smoke detectors are working our homes.

See what foundation students had to say about their experience:

Year 5 Figurative Language

As a pre-cursor to our Narrative unit in writing we have been discovering the wonderful world of ‘Figurative Language, including the use of imagery and description. Today 5L chose an object and wrote three type of figurative language phrases using similes, metaphors and personification.

Using these techniques in writing help our readers visualise what they reading. It also makes our writing engaging and purposeful!

Year 3 Rainbow Poems

In year 3 we have been learning about different types of poetry, poetic devices and creating poems. Here are some wonderful Rainbow poems using verbs and adjectives that we created this week.
