Year 5

Year 5 Leadership Development Days

Year 5 students recently participated in two inspiring Leadership Days, designed to help them explore and develop their potential as future leaders at Catherine McAuley. These experiences provided valuable opportunities for students to reflect on the qualities of leadership and how they can empower others through their actions and words.

The first Leadership Day was hosted by James Sheahan Catholic High School, with the guidance of Year 9 student leaders. Through a series of interactive challenges and reflective discussions, Year 5 students learned about the importance of teamwork, resilience, and effective communication. The Year 9 leaders served as excellent role models, sharing their own leadership journeys and encouraging our students to think deeply about the impact they can have on their school and community.

The second day was facilitated by Cameron Brown from Explore Discover Act. This program focused on developing a shared understanding and vocabulary of leadership. Through engaging activities, students explored how their daily thoughts, words, and actions contribute to their ability to lead. The challenges provided opportunities for self-discovery and growth, helping students recognise their strengths and appreciate the importance of supporting others.

Both Leadership Days equipped students with practical skills and meaningful insights as they began the process of nominating themselves for leadership roles at Catherine McAuley. These experiences not only built their confidence but also emphasised the importance of leading with compassion, integrity, and a sense of responsibility.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our Year 5 students and look forward to seeing them step into leadership roles, embodying the values of

Catherine McAuley!
