How to navigate online nastiness

Through our partnership with Linewize, we have established a St Michael’s Online Safety Hub where you as parents can access all of the latest information and advice for technology in your home. This is a very valuable resource for parents as it can allow us to gain valuable insight into social media, screen time, gaming, smartphones, bullying, mental health and wellbeing and more!

This week we will be looking at How to navigate online nastiness

Online conflicts among young people are common and often labeled as "cyberbullying," but they can be seen as an extension of conflicts that arise with normal teenage development.

Online nastiness does not make a child "bad." It is part of their learning process in dealing with relational conflict.

The three key steps to addressing online conflict are stopping the spread, problem-solving together, and debriefing after the conflict has passed.

If this information is interesting and valuable to you, please be sure to check out more information on the St Michael’s Online Safety Hub for useful information.
