Extended Learning Program
At Brooklyn Park, we have an Extended Learning Program, reflecting our commitment to fostering academic excellence and curiosity in our students. Each of our classroom teachers works towards extending their students within the classroom.
Last term, our students participated in various extended learning activities, and some participated in the Australian Maths Trust Challenge Kangourou sans Frontières. Our students received exceptional results, competing against young mathematicians from all over the world. This term, we have a diverse range of activities and projects on offer, catering for the interests and abilities of our students, and providing them with the skills they need to thrive.
Year 3/4 Oliphant Science Awards preparation
One of our dedicated Year 3/4 groups is working hard to prepare for the Oliphant Science Awards. These young scientists are delving into fascinating topics and creating comprehensive information reports and narratives. Their projects cover themes such as avoiding sporting injuries, space junk impact, and species survival strategies. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and dedication to these critical scientific inquiries.
Year 3/4 extension group projects
In addition to the Oliphant Science Awards group, our Year 3/4 extension group is engaging in personal extension projects. These projects enhance their research skills, report writing, and reading development. By allowing students to explore subjects they are passionate about, we aim to cultivate a love for learning and independent thinking.
da Vinci Decathlon
We are thrilled to announce that eight Year 5/6 students recently represented Brooklyn Park at the da Vinci Decathlon, held on 4 June at St Peter's Girls School. This prestigious event celebrates the academic talents of young Australians through a stimulating and challenging competition. Our students showcased their skills across ten disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography, and Legacy.
It was a huge day of academics and our team performed exceptionally well, demonstrating creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. Brooklyn Park drew with our South Plympton campus for second place in the “Art and Poetry” category, out of 24 schools! We are proud of their achievements and the way they represented our school with distinction.

South Plympton students lead Brooklyn Park Assembly
Our Year 11-12 Student Leaders, together with the Secondary School Worship Band, led the Junior School assembly at our Brooklyn Park campus on Monday 3 June.
The students decided upon a theme of 'being part of the body of Christ' and in a God-honouring way, presented this to the students. It was a delight to be able to worship with the Junior School students and hear their shouts of praise to God.
A big 'thank you' to Brad for leading our devotion on being part of the body of Christ, and to Sehreem for her jenga visualisation. It is lovely to see our students input into the lives of other students cross-campus. It was lovely to hear from the students recognising their gifts and talents that make them unique and valued members of the body of Christ!

South Plympton students visit Brooklyn Park
Our Brooklyn Park campus was alive with giggles and fun as our Secondary students visited from South Plympton!
Each student was partnered up with a buddy, and there were games of 'Stuck in the Mud' and cricket, as well as activities such as dressing up and drawing your buddy.
The gasps of amazement as the younger students looked up at the towering Secondary Students wearing the same uniforms made the trip very worth it!
Year 6 Camp - Kangaroo Island
Our Year 6 students recently enjoyed a wonderful experience at Kangaroo Island. It was an opportunity to come close to wildlife and nature, all whilst building community and camaraderie with one another. Students enjoyed various experiences, including sandboarding, a sea life cruise, close encounters with birds of prey, reptiles and wallabies, and many walks and interactions with different natural environments, including the ever-impressive, famous and appropriately named Remarkable Rocks!
Lasting memories and friendships were forged during our special week together.
