Welcome to the College Resource Library

SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME RECAP

During this past week, the College Resource Library has been celebrating the National Simultaneous Storytime text ‘Bowerbird Blues’ by Aura Parker! Each year the Australian Library and Information Association vote on a text and this year we have the opportunity to explore this beautiful blue book.

Bowerbird Blues stars a beautiful bowerbird on the search for (you guessed it) BLUE!

It’s a moving story of longing and connection, that unfolds as the bowerbird’s search sends him soaring across the sea, sky and city. He swoops and snatches vibrant treasures for his collection, and soon his bower– a mix of natural and unnatural objects– attracts something greater and more fulfilling than he could ever have imagined.

We took this opportunity to explore this wonderful text within Education Week last week and had some fun creating an immersive display for Prep Information Night also.

During this week, we put together some Storytime sessions and interactive activities for students during borrowing sessions. Creators Club at lunchtimes also took this opportunity to get hands-on and create their very own bowerbird diorama with treasures and items. The simultaneous reading occurred Wednesday 22 May where schools and libraries around the nation took some time to read the story, our school included!
