NSW All Schools Swimming Championships
Frankie Somerville continued her fine form at the NSW All Schools Swimming Championships winning Gold in the 16 years 50m Freestyle in a time of 26.07. Her time is most impressive as she did not taper in preparation for this event. She is continuing to train hard for the upcoming Olympic trials. She has a personal best of 25.92 and will aim to improve on that time at the trials.
And breaking news... Frankie Somerville was announced in the NSW All Schools Swim team to compete at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast July 27-31. Congratulations Frankie!

Around the Grounds
The Senior A Football team sit undefeated after 5 rounds of the IGSA competition. The team is coached by Michele Majavacchi who holds his Australian B licence. As part of his role as Head Coach, Michele mentors the younger coaches and works with the teams throughout the season to improve their skill acquisition.
The Kambala 4 Year 11 team are on quite a different journey to the Senior A team. Most of the team members are playing soccer for the first time with many of the players taking up soccer to fulfil their International Baccalaureate sport component. They have said they are playing Soccer for fun and to be with their friends. Special mention to Katrina Lin who has taken the challenge of being the Goalkeeper and she has made some great saves. While the team has yet to post a win everyone watching agrees the team has improved markedly. The KRB parents were so impressed by the enthusiasm of the coaches Matthew Grafen and Ethan Huang last weekend that they said they wished all coaches had their passion.
While Year 9 were at Red Earth our Junior Soccer team were down to 6 Year 8 players. The call went out to the Year 8’s in the Junior A Basketball team to see if they would come and play after their Basketball game. As you can see from the photo below the girls came straight from Basketball to not only play but help win the match! This result keeps Kambala 5 at the top of the ladder! Thank you to the following girls for coming and playing, Annika Amundsson, Frankie Quick, Sienna Howell, Audrey Mallos and Sofia Samios. It was a great team effort. A special thank you to Annika and Frankie for sharing the goal keeping duties.

Junior School Athletics Carnival
The Junior School Athletics Carnival at ES Marks was a great success with an unprecedented number of records broken. Sage Somerville 3.43m and Isabella Jaboury 3.42m broke the 9 years and under Long Jump record of 3.40m set by Jesse Clarke in 2001.
Elizabeth Coulston had an outstanding day breaking Madeleine McCathie’s 2009 12 years 100m record of 13.99 with a very fast 13.69. Araminta Dusseldorp also ran under the record to finish second in 13.74. Likewise in the 12 years 200m both girls pushed each other to run under Margot Hindmarsh’s record of 29.75 with Elizabeth stopping the clock at 29.57 and Araminta 29.65. Elizabeth was very unlucky to just miss the 100m Championship record by a mere hundredth of a second. That record is still shared by three athletes, two of whom Elizabeth Rose and Charlotte McGill went on to represent Australia in Athletics.
Our 9-year old’s Isabella Jabboury 15.12 and Sage Somerville 15.25 both ran under the old 100m record held by Pru Blain 2000 and Brooke Clarke 2001 of 15.40. Isabella then broke Elizabeth Somervilles’ record of 34.07 with a blistering 32.88.
