Old Collegians’ Sporting Clubs

Recently, I was privileged to attend the combined “Mazenod Old Collegians’ Football Club” and the “Panthers’ All-Abilities Football Club” Founder’s Day Luncheon. As always, this event embodies the spirit of St Eugene de Mazenod, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and the wider Mazenod College Community. It is always joyous to catch up with our Old Collegians, their families, and the wider Community. The day was full of fun, friendship, heaps of laughs and great camaraderie and sportsmanship. Many thanks to the President of the Mazenod Old Collegians’ Football Club, Craig Todd; to Phil Ryan, the President of the Panthers’ All-Abilities Football Club, to our fabulous Master of Ceremonies, Wayne Francis, to all the volunteers, and to everyone who attended for a wonderful day! We were even blessed to have a day bathed in sunshine!

In addition, all our Old Collegians’ Sporting Clubs must be congratulated for hosting enjoyable Founder’s Day matches and events.  Certainly, our “Mazenod Football Club”, under the Presidency of Mr Daniel Paone, received great recognition for their Founder’s Day Luncheon, when it received extensive acclaim in an article published in the Melbourne Italian Community’s newspaper, “Il Globo”. This inspirational piece reminds all of us in our Mazenod Community of the immense contribution which all migrants have made to our multicultural Australian society, as well as to the Mazenod Football Club.

As always, our Old Collegians’ Sporting Clubs depend on the goodwill of volunteers; that is, on the generosity and goodwill of all of us. Together, we can accomplish great things.

Warm regards,
