VCAA Plain English Speaking Award (PESA)

Congratulations to Aditya Krishna Moorthy, our College Vice Captain, for his outstanding performance in the VCAA Plain English Speaking Award (PESA) Competition online state heat!

PESA is a public-speaking competition for students aged 15-18 years, providing an excellent opportunity for students to build self-confidence and extend their skills in oral communication, speech writing and research.

Aditya secured first place with his powerful speech entitled “Protest Now.”

In his speech, Aditya eloquently highlighted the urgent need for action and protest in the face of conflict and war. Let’s take inspiration from his words and consider our collective responsibility to create positive change.

Cultural Crossroads

We’re thrilled to announce the culmination of a remarkable three-month International Project that has brought together Year 12 Italian students from Mazenod College and their counterparts from Liceo Francesco Vivona in Rome, our newly established sister school.

This November, our students will embark on a journey to Italy as part of the Study Tour, where they will meet their Roman peers in person.

This cultural exchange has fostered a genuine bond between the two student groups, significantly enhancing their proficiency in both Italian and English through writing and conversation.

The project’s activities included:

  • Detailed presentations about their home cities in the second language.
  • Penning letters on two chosen themes.
  • Engaging in small group dialogues.

The highlight was the creation of the ‘Cultural Crossroads’ Podcast Series. In this series, matched students from both schools delved into discussions about a cultural topic of their choosing, offering unique perspectives and insights.
