Year 2

In Science this term the unit of work is ‘Standing Up and Heating Up’. It is all about static electricity and heat energy. Everyone enjoyed participating in an experiment which was about looking at different materials and discovering which ones created static electricity. In the photos below students are rubbing a plastic pen through their hair and then using the static electricity to pick up small pieces of paper. 

The students had to consider how many times they needed to rub the pen through their hair and whether it affected the results. Lots of fun was had by all and there were also some pretty funny hair styles at the end of it!
