Principal's Report

Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Welcome to Term 2. A special welcome to new families who have joined our amazing school. This term is 10 weeks. We have planned for lots of fun and interesting activities this term, concluding with semester one reports, parent/teacher interviews and our K-2 and 3-6 end of semester celebration assemblies.

ANZAC DAY ASSEMBLY

On the first day of Term 2 we held our annual ANZAC DAY Commemorative Assembly at Fairvale PS. We listened to our school leaders tell us about the meaning of ANZAC DAY. Then we remembered all of those who have served in war, conflict and peacekeeping operations. Each class laid a wreath that had been made with poppies. This wreath and other flowers were laid outside under our flag poles. Lest we Forget.

MOTHER’S DAY STALL

Our annual Mother’s Day Stall was back on today for another year. Miss Michelle and Miss Samira, along with parents, operated the stall. All children should have had the opportunity to purchase gifts ranging from $2 to $10 today. Any unsold items will be sold on Friday morning. I would like to wish all our mums a wonderful Mother’s Day for on Sunday - 12 May 2024. I hope it’s a lovely day!

BIKE VISITS WITH MR PITT

This week I visited 1 Seebohm and 3/4 Jones. I was hoping to get back on my bike but unfortunately it has been just too wet! Let’s hope I can ride again next week.

  • 1 Seebohm – On Tuesday morning I visited 1S during literacy time. The children were very busy completing a range of activities. I was able to sit with some children and help them to say and use some tricky words. After this I had the pleasure of reading with a small group. We read the text together, discussing the tricky words. We spoke about words we didn’t know such as ‘damp’. After reading, the group answered some questions as we spoke about the text. It was great to see lots of wonderful learning in 1S. Well done!
  • 3/4 Jones – On Monday morning I visited 3/4J during a maths lesson. It was my one of my favourite concepts - fractions! Children divided their page into quarters and had to investigate a range of examples. Miss Yousif, Miss Michael and I walked around to check-in on the wonderful learning taking place. Some children were chosen to come out to the board and share their work. After we investigated, children wrote a statement about their findings. Not only did everyone work extremely well, but they also listened carefully and produced work to be very proud of. Great work 3/4J!
