Yaluk Building:

The base furniture was delivered for Room 26 & 27 and the Art room. Each classroom has its own small fridge.   A commercial fridge and a freezer were delivered to hospitality kitchen and the coffee machine has been installed in the servery - Bring on the Coffee Club!

We are trialing  low gas lift chairs on wheels for staff to move around the rooms (two per classroom). These are instead of the wheelie stools. Please advise Denise if these chairs are more suitable after you have used for a couple of weeks.    There are also two gas lift chairs on Glides (not wheels) to be put at the computer tables in each room. The chairs are to ensure good ergonomic posture when students are using computers.

Security and Yaluk. All classrooms  are requested to keep their classroom doors locked at all times, unless a door needs to be open for ventilation.  This ensures that all classes are secure from uninvited visitors.  All classroom doors have egress from inside at all times so that students may leave the classroom room.

 

All staff have been given a FOB that opens all electronic gates and doors in the school. This includes the Yaluk building.   Doors without a FOB reader require a key.

Transition plan 

Phase 1 (Yaluk Building)  -Social Stories developed by Therapy team for Phase 1 transitions

  • Phys Edn, Art and Hospitality are beginning in new building
  • Students  Room 26 & 27 moved into Yaluk classrooms today.
  • Vacated classrooms cupboards to be emptied of class materials etc. to provide empty rooms for new classes to occupy.
  • Friday 17th May Capital Works Team to inspect vacated rooms to ensure all classroom resources have been removed.
  • Old Art room set up for access by Primary and Middle School Staff/ students from 20th May 2024.
  • Social Story for phase 2 for Room 16-18

Phase 2: (Middle  Room 16 -18) to Secondary wing)

  • Room 17 may tour their new room as it is currently vacant.
  • Tour of  classrooms 16 & 18 in secondary Monday/ Tuesday 20th/21st 
  • Transition of Room 17 when ever you are ready
  • 16 &18 Classroom resources to move to the new classrooms  
  • 16 & 18 Transition during week beginning  20th May 2024

Phase 3 : Transition of room 25 to new room when booths are completed. ( a few more weeks)

  • Establishment of Living Skills space in Western side of current room 25
  • Transition of Middle School Collaboration Room to Current Room 25 (Eastern side)
  • Setting up of science room adjacent to Therapy Office.

Workplace inspections & reporting items

If you have a maintenance issue in your office or room these should be reported in the Maintenance log immediately. DO NOT wait until the end of term to report these issues as many need to be rectified as quickly as possible to avoid incidents.

 

Gates around the school

Please be aware of your keys and keep them out of sight/non accessible to students as many know how to use the fobs and keys to access the staff carpark and external surrounds. 

If you have an ongoing issue with students opening gates around the school, please discuss it with your sub school leader and Mary Boutros - Safe & Well Operations Leader.

 

Air conditioners can staff please make sure AC units are turned off at the end of the day. TURN OFF the AC units in the OT room & climbing room as you leave at the end of each session.

 

ICT & Facilities job requests and notifications: 

Log any jobs for Maintenance on SharePoint. This will enable Jacob and I to schedule the works and ensure they are completed in a timely manner. 

Log any jobs for ICT Support on SharePoint. This will enable Loc and Luat to schedule the works and ensure they are completed in a timely manner. 

Please make sure you log the correct jobs on the correct logs.
