Technology, STEM and Cybersafety

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

It's been a busy few weeks of exploring technologies with years 3 and 4, looking at ways we use our Chromebooks, how we can build the essential skills of touch typing, and learning important skills in Google Slides, our favourite presentation software.

Although we have been working in class on this, one of our pupils, Samantha, worked with her mum at home to create an amazing presentation about Colombia. I've shared it below as well as an image of her receiving her silver badge for her Chromebook Passport.

In STEM these past few weeks, years 5 and 6 have been exploring our school value of Collaboration through several different team tasks. They have also been looking at what creative type they are and who they work best with.

Here are some snaps of them working in our STEM learning space together!

Throughout this year, all of our students at St Louis will be working with the team from Inform and Empower to learn more about digital citizenship and being safe online.

As part of this, we will be hosting a Parent Information Session in term 3 (dates to follow).

For now, you can find several amazing resources on their parent portal. This week we have taken their helpsheet on "Healthy Digital Habits' as our cyber safety resource to focus on.
