Shepparton National Sorry Day Commemoration
The National Sorry Day Commemoration in Shepparton on May 27 was attended by FIRE Carriers Jayda (Year 11), Jay (Year 9) and Taj (Year 9). The ceremony motivated the students and staff in attendance to recognise National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week is more than just a date on the calendar - it is a time for us to listen, learn, and understand the deep scars left by the actions of the past that still have a profound impact today. It is an opportunity for us to admire the resilience, strength, and enduring spirit of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Now more than ever is the time to act for equality, unity and truth telling.
May 26 marks National Sorry Day and the commencement of National Reconciliation Week. National Sorry Day is a day where we pause to acknowledge and reflect on the profound impact of the policies and practices that led to the Stolen Generations. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the suffering endured by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities across Australia.

After weeks of training, the team came together on May 19 in Bendigo to be undefeated all day, winning both their games to put them into the grand final.
