Benvenuto - Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have been acknowledging National Reconciliation Week, particularly on Tuesday which was National Sorry Day. We had some wonderful representation at the commemoration service at the Queen's Gardens in Shepparton. A big thank you to Jayda Kennedy, Taj Leader and Jay Briant who represented the College and delivered moving speeches to the assembled audience. This year's theme "Now More Than Ever" is a response to the referendum and the importance of keeping momentum around treaty-making, truth telling, understanding our history and tackling racism. Now more than ever - we need reconciliation!
Today two Year 10 students, Lillian Richardson and Manjot Kaur, represented the College at the Plain English Speaking Awards in Bendigo. The girls had both prepared very impactful speeches on their chosen topic and delivered them beautifully. They then were required to participate in a 'cold speech' activity where they would speak for three minutes on any given topic. The girls were such a great model of the learning assets in action which we so highly value at St Anne's College - certainly some future leaders to watch out for on the world stage in years to come!
The Goulburn Murray District Winter Sports for Years 7 and 8 students were held on Wednesday. We had students participating in a variety of sports in venues across Shepparton. The students represented the College positively, demonstrating our expectations of respecting everyone and everything, doing your best and helping others to succeed. Along with the participants were also some of our older students who assisted with coaching and reffing, ensuring everyone had a fair and enjoyable day.
Next week we have another busy week upon us with the School of Possibilities Information Night and the much anticipated annual Year 9 Market Day. This market day is in its fourth year of operation and is such a wonderful experience for the students to actively learn about business, customer engagement and marketing. This project requires students to engage all of their learning assets to set them up for success on the day. We wish them well in their efforts.
We please ask you to hold Bliss Polinar, Year 3/4 Learning Mentor, and her family in your prayers as Bliss's brother passed away in the Philippines over the weekend.
