Grevillea House
Hi, my name is Fayeqa. I have most enjoyed being able to raise money for charities and being a part of group activities with my fellow SRC members. I have also learnt a lot from my peers and teachers, which helped me grow as a person.
This year so far went by very quickly. In Term 4 Humanities, we had a special Medieval Day where we had the option to dress as medieval people and it was amazing to see what it looked like back then. We also learnt a lot about the history of Vikings. I did not get the chance to get dressed up as a Viking, however I saw those who did and it was amazing.
In English, we are learning about poetry, what types of poems there are and how to write them. It was amazing to analyse an English poem compared to poems in my first language. It was a skill I did not have and it was good to learn the basics and then build on that.
In Science and Math, we are doing PBL (Project Based Learning) to learn what Rube Goldberg machines are and how to create them. It is really interesting to learn about how they were created and how to use them.
As a House, we have been raising money for Red Cross. In total, we have raised $140 which can help a person in need. $120 of the money can be used to help a worker from Red Cross visit a person in need once a fortnight and the other $20 can be used to connect an elderly person in need for support.
In conclusion, it was a great year with many successes and I learned a lot as well as growing out of my shell. I can’t wait for next year and to see what that will look like. Thanks to my teachers and fellow classmates for their support and our great year together.
