Fern House

Hello staff, students and parents. My name is David A and I’m the Year 7 SRC (Student Representative Council) in Fern House. 

For almost a year, I have been working towards trying to make Dandenong High School a greater place by working with other SRC colleagues (ranging from Year 8-12) and House Leadership.  It has been an amazing experience to step up in my duties as a responsible and independent learner and I highly recommend it to anyone striving to become a successful individual. It has substantially benefited my perspective from an older standpoint and gave me an opportunity to gain insight from many talented people. 

It has been busy planning this term! We all have many upcoming events planned for all our Fern peers to enjoy, such as House Christmas decorating displays, movie days, exciting trivia and Elf on the Shelf! As for our fundraiser, we chose an organisation called ‘RizeUp,’ a foundation that aims to work with domestic violence agencies and support victims of domestic abuse. Actually raising the money was tough, but we managed to start a stall in the form of a food stand in sponsorship of our past soccer tournament. 

As I begin to finish my message, I would like to end things off with a few words from Mr Penhale, our Fern HLT. For our seniors, we would all like you to prepare for your Smart Start transition. It can be difficult to switch from one year level to another, so it was implemented to give our students a less stressful period in between. For our juniors, it is crucial that you are attending every single class, on time, with the correct materials and the right uniform. This displays dedication and a passion for school learning. Finally, if you haven’t seen already, we have restructured our green chronicles on the stairwell from first to second storey of the House. This is to show our strengths and traits as a community and how we achieve those titles. The end of the term and school year is nigh, so I would like to congratulate all high achieving Fern students.
